Thank You Very Much

It's New Year's Eve.
Tomorrow is the New Year's Day.

I wish the coming year is filled with hope, right, dream, joy, and love.

I wish everyone finds his own spring deep in his mind and receives infinite energy from it.

I wish happiness spreads one by one, and eventually create a beautiful and bountiful world on earth.

And at last, I wish I can think like these in fifty years.

Thank you very much for keep reading my blog for four years.

One More Day

Today is already 30th.
Tomorrow is the last day of this year.
And, actually, tomorrow's post is the last one for this blog too.

I've decided to stop posting from the day after tomorrow because I decided to study English from the basics (I mean, from pronunciation).
For a while, I'll concentrate on pronunciation, and then try reading many English books.
Then, when the time comes, I'll start writing again.

Tomorrow, I'll write a prayer for the coming year, and finishes with my real name.
I also decided to change the comment setting on the New Year's Day.
After this change, you cannot write or read comments.
Please accept these changes.

My globe that I got from a friend is so old that it still shows Soviet Union on it.

It is classic...

Love Drums

I really like Gloria Estefan's "Reach."
It finishes with many drums, and I really really like it.
(It's over 10 years ago, though.)

The Thing That is More Important Than Lack

I heard a story about a man who survived from lightning strike killed himself after that.

There are also lots of story of men who survived from war became insane.

Lack is one thing, but mind is the one that really decides how he lives.

Plants

"Live your own way" seems difficult for human, but plants might actually doing it.

I just thought this few minutes ago.
Self but selfless?

Seasons Greetings!

I'll study more English!
(The second one is a totally different thing. I know.)

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Eve

I'll go to the pre-host mother's house, and eat dinner at there.
Thus, I'm writing this post early.

It's Christmas Eve.
Seasons greetings!

My Ears

A small loading shovel is clearing the snow on the opposite street.
I heard the sound and checked it.
(The curtain is closed right now.)

I thank for my ears.

Quite Useful

Few hours ago, I was making a letter sized - Monday start - four months calendar.
It's quite useful.

(All lines should have the same thickness, but when I made it in JPG image, some lines were thickened. It's a computer mystery.)

Snow

We have snow today again.
It's unusual...
Usually, Victoria doesn't have snow more than 3 times a winter, and the snow usually melt away within a week, but this winter, the first snow have not melted yet.
It is unusual......

Anyway

I finally translated a course outline (Math) that I took in the University of Ryukyus.
The University of Victoria sent me the request of this course outline last July (!), but I haven't translated it in English. (I got the original Japanese documents in September.)

It is needed for unit transferring, but since I made them wait almost half a year and also the course is almost the same as the one I took in the first year in UVic, this transferring may not accepted.
But anyway, I'll bring it to UVic next Tuesday.

I Love Flying

I watched the DVD "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" that I borrowed from a friend.
I really really want to fly the glider she uses!

(I read the comic books, but haven't watched the movie.)

There Are Times Like This

I lost my concentration during today's final.
I guess, I failed......

............

Well, it's already finished.
I have to think about future.

Eat Chocolate and Study

I have another final tomorrow.
This is for the course called "Classical Mechanics," and I've found that it's more difficult than the course I finished on Monday.

The final starts at 9:00 am, but I haven't understood the contents clearly...
Oh, well.
I'll eat chocolate and study a bit more.

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

A Small Prayer

The course I finished yesterday is called 'thermodynamics (an area of physics).'
This course was like a puzzle ring, and I could only solve two problems out of six.
But I hope I pass the course...

Not Bad At All

I have a final test today from 7:00 pm.

Right now, we have very very beautiful blue sky, but the temperature is -4°C (23F) and the wind is 30km/h. Tonight, the lowest temperature is said to be like -8°C (19F).

In this time of the year, the sun sets around 4:00 pm, so 6:00 pm is already dark.

But because the final starts at 7:00 pm, I could take the above pictures (the ice formed inside of my room), could eat miso soup for branch, and could write this long post.

Also, strong wind with blue sky is much much better than snowstorm.
I just checked the weather forecast in Toronto which says that they have cloudy sky with 42 km/h of wind (Wind gust is 58 km/h) . The temperature is almost the same, but the wind is as strong as typhoon...

I feel my situation is not bad at all compared to them.

First Snow

First snow.

And right now, I hear strong wind blow which is clearing the sky.
(I see a big moon in the east.)

Human Power

The power of one person is limited.
I guess that this is the largest reason for creating an organization such as a company.

The world is the story itself.

And, it exits in your mind.

Words for The Person

If the person doesn't seem to understand my words, then I can only say something shallow.

But I know that this happens only because I haven't found the perfect words for the person.

Everything

Fear is always coming from a mind.
You feel the fear because you have a mind.

But courage is also originated from a mind.
You can use it to surpass the fear.

The mind has everything, so you can choose what you want to feel.

The Habit

I usually don't do assignments early, and do them just before the time is up.
And so I usually cannot sleep on the day before the due date.

This isn't good.
Thus, I decided to develop the habit of finish assignments early and sleep more.
It may take time to develop this habit, but if I try little by little, I believe I can have more leeway and enjoy it.

From a Double Decker Bus

The leaves of most deciduous trees already fell, and there is a lot of rain this time.
It's December.

But recently, I found new buds on the trees, and it made me to imagine the season in four months.

Everyday Life

One day, I'm in a haste. Another day, I relax and do nothing.
The other day, I regret myself and in a different day, I praise myself.

It's just what we call "everyday life."

The Tasks

I need to study like a daily practice, and it also needs to be more efficient.
These are the basic tasks.

Sukiyaki

Today I ate "Sukiyaki," but because I forgot to buy a Chinese cabbage, the one I made was less veggies than normal.
I should not forget it next time when I make sukiyaki...

"Complete happiness" does not exist, but I thought that "infinite happiness" could exist.

Seek infinite happiness.

Keep the person who criticizes you as your brain.
Such person is actually very valuable to you.

Life is a cycle of misfortune and fortune.

The fact is the fact.
Happiness and unhappiness is what you decide about the fact.

There is no complete happiness or complete unhappiness in this world.

(But, we are made to seek for a happier life.)

A Haiku

Here I made a Haiku.
"Lab report
It's nearly the end
Keep on going!"

...I felt awkward making it in English...

Time flies like an arrow.
Two hours have passed since I sat down on my couch, and it's already December next week!

Minor Things

I feel it's true that "Fruitless time can actually be found in the studying time."
(It continues like, "The eating or sleeping time can be called the necessity time for life.")

I've been majoring in minor things on my lab report.

The Biggest Learning

I really really hadn't understood the person.
That's why I couldn't find any word for her.

This is the biggest learning through that conversation and I'm satisfied with it.

On a Couch

I closed my eyes, and three hours have passed.
I'll go back to the desk now.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Deeply

There is a depth in emotion.
A person who knows well about this can understand other people deeply, but a person whose emotion is left untouched cannot see though the real feelings of other people.

Thus, it's important to feel your emotion deeply.

Passed Midnight

I was doing an assignment and forgot the time.
Good!

Just a few minutes ago, I had something for today's post, but I already forgot.

Shallow ideas are like bubbles.

Autostart

We all know how it feels when we are running away from things.
But if we keep running away, the works get heavier and heavier.

It's said that to end this vicious cycle, we need to start the work without bad emotions.

Weather

Yesterday was rainy and windy, but I went out for grocery shopping.
Today, we had really really beautiful blue sky, but I stayed in my apartment and studied.

...Oh, well. Weather and my plan are two different things.

A Long Way

It seems I still have a long way for studying.

(But, "Time flies like an arrow" is also true.)

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Natural and Unnatural

We think nature is "natural," and not think it is "unnatural," but I sometimes feel that nature is so artificial...

I feel if Earth really is left natural, then no life has been born, and it is just another desolate planet in the Solar System.

A Wide Variety of People

Every year, this day has become the day to know the increase in population of rare kinds of people.

I saw two women-men, one angle (with a halo ring), two lion boys, one cardboard-lizard-man, one foil-made-astronaut and more.

It's fun to know the great variety in people.

Not Too Long Blackout

Today, around 5 pm, the power went off.
(It's said that the whole towns on the southern tip of the Vancouver Island experienced it.)

I was at my pre host mother's house and we (total 7 people) were preparing thanksgiving dinner.

However, since most of the cooking was already done, we could eat them and celebrate thanksgiving.

It was good that the power came back around 6:30 pm.

I handed the lab report I was writing yesterday in my lab section's slot. And now, I am writing another lab report.

I'm writing this report with the soft called "OpenOffice," and using "Math equation object." It's the first time using this function.

Using "Math equation object" is a bit of fun.

An Astonishingly Easy Way

At the moment I found an astonishingly easy way to solve a problem, I thought that "Oh, I can solve this problem in this easy easy way. I was thinking too much..."

If I don't think too much, then I may find an easy way to solve a problem.

A while ago, I wrote that "the downloading speed of my internet service got four times faster," but right now it comes back to the speed before it happened.

I'm guessing that four times more people started using the same service after I wrote the post.

It's dangerous to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. You may buy extra foods because they look very tasty.

You may also buy "50% OFF" things more easily because they look much more attractive...

It's a warning from the one (me) who was caught by such 50% OFF mark!

How It Looks

Sometimes, I see a strange phenomenon on a certain person's face.
The person looks normal on first glance, but the next moment, his/her face is corrupted.

It's like a face in Picasso's painting. (More accurate example is the face from the "make-a-face game" - one of the traditional New Year games in Japan.)

The face is not actually corrupted, but I see like the above.

This is totally my own vision, but it decides my impression towards the person almost completely.
(However, I'll add one point; this "face" changes with time.)

I really feel that "writing a goal and posting it in my room" has a strong power to motivate me.

A Book

Meeting someone can be likened to start reading a book which title is the person's name.

But we start reading it not from the first but from the middle, and we usually do not finish it.

What is worse is that we do not even go through every single line of the book while reading.

This is why I think it's impossible for me to understand someone completely.

Intelligence and Sensitivity

Intelligence could be considered as a coolant of your mind, and sensitivity could be considered as a warmer.

If the coolant is too strong, your mind can become like an ice, and people who touched it will get frostbite.
If the warmer is too strong, your mind can become like a fireball, and people around you will be burned.

What's important is the balance between these two!

The Wind

We have very very strong wind today, and because of this wind, the weather changes so quickly.
For a while, we have sunlight, but the next moment, it changed to rain.

I wondered how strong the wind blows, and checked the weather forecast site.
It says that we have wind 42 km/h.
It's only 10 km/h less from the typhoons I experienced.

Making Sheet Music

I installed free music notation software called "Finale NotePad 2008."

Then, the first sheet music I made is the violin version of "Haisai Ojisan (Hey Mister!)," a famous folk song in Okinawa.
(I transposed the piano score.)

It's a funny tune, and it's almost completely true that I installed the software just because I wanted to make the violin score of this tune.

Soft

The soft orange light; I really really like this light.

Many Other Minds

There are many other minds existing inside a mind.
Isn't it intriguing?

Things I Can Do

There are not many things I can do.
I cannot go out and search for missing people, cannot change the bad rules or laws in many countries, or cannot stop any war on Earth immediately.

But, I don't give up.
I'll do my best for the next 50 years.

Just Before the Time Change

In a few hours, the daylight savings starts.
If you open a computer clock at 1:59AM, you can watch the short hand suddenly jumps to 3:00AM.
It is fun to observe it.

Usually

Impatience usually leads to a bad result...
I'll reflect my feelings.

A Map

Playing with a map on the Net is very very fun.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

The Door of Your Heart

The first door can be opened to everybody.
The second door can be opened to 30 - 40% of the people you meet.
The third door is only for those who are the closest. (one or two, I assume)

I guess that in this way, you can build better relationships.

Sometimes

"Death" is not the thing that is far away from us. Sometimes, it is very near.
Thus, I no longer feel the ambulance siren as "too laud."

Monday, March 3, 2008

Cheer Up Everyone

I got a really really "impressive" mark on the Math's midterm exam. I think most of you will gain confidence by hearing it.

19%! (The weight is about 20%.)

The average was 43%.
So, I'll study HARD!

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Observe

Any person can help you think more deeply.
Let's observe people more carefully.

Everything

There are no other miracles that are more important than the existence of our minds.
Mind is everything...

Daffodils

Daffodils are starting to bloom.

Thursday, February 28, 2008

Something

I'm sure that it is the heart and not the head that tells a person "you committed a crime."

There is "something" that clearly points to certain direction inside of your heart.

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

No Problem

Even if the outside world is experiencing a heavy storm, the surface of the "infinite spring" that exists deep within you will never become rough.

If you know this, you will be able to go through any circumstances.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Perseverance and Forgiveness

If you get irritated by the behavior of a "child," you lose to that child.

The child is really playing the role to develop your perseverance and forgiveness.

Monday, February 25, 2008

Both

If you have courage, you are the pioneers.
They create a new city from the complete wilderness.
If you are a bit coward, you are the inhabitants.
They settle to the new city and make it larger.

Cowards cannot create new things, but pioneers cannot live the city once it becomes too large for them.

For the city, both are needed.

Sunday, February 24, 2008

Unfair

I can't accept "God-given talent."
I am assuming that such talent was gained through the efforts the one did in his past lives.

Unless the above assumption is true, we have totally unfair lives.

Saturday, February 23, 2008

Rules

There are so many rules in this world.
Some of them are good ones, and some of the other are bad ones.
It's better to keep the good ones, and change the bad ones very very slowly.

Friday, February 22, 2008

Every Day

'Take life one day at a time' is very very important...

Judgment

The scariest thing for us could be the impaired judgment.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Scones

It's fun to bake scones.
Mines are better than store's!

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

"Nature"

If you think too much while forgetting to deepen your mind, you'll get lost.

Can you recall what flower you saw today?

Monday, February 18, 2008

A Waste

It's a waste of my energy to get mad about things I cannot control.

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Adjustment

When I feel that I may burn a person with my intensity, I keep my distance.

Then, I'll be in fervor again.

(Adjusting the flame is important too.)

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Warm

Both of my hands and toes are warm.
I feel very happy.

Friday, February 15, 2008

Translations

I am translating my feelings to English in this blog, but in the other blog, I'm doing the same thing in Japanese.

Because I grew up in Japan, my Japanese translation is much much better than the English one.

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Intriguing

It's Valentine's Day!
I saw a man who was holding three long-stemmed red roses in a bus.

Because, in Japan, Valentine's day is defined as the day when a woman gives chocolates to a man, it was interesting to see a man holding roses.

It's very intriguing to know how a custom transmits differently to other countries.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Sometimes

It's fun to understand something.
But sometimes, studying is tiresome.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Slowly

I guess, it's OK to gain confidence slowly.

Monday, February 11, 2008

"Us" and "Earth"

Today, I just thought that if I slowly pronounce the word "us (the pronoun 'us')," it sounds similar to the word "earth."
Now, I like the word "us" more.

(I may not be hearing the slight difference in the pronunciation of these words, though.)

Sunday, February 10, 2008

A Practice Teacher

The position you are in when you face a person who doesn't understand your talking is more like a "practice teacher."

The person may not understand your explanation, but it actually means that your explanation is not so good for that person.

The problem stems from your lack of understanding to the "student."

Saturday, February 9, 2008

Quality Is Important.

My printer is so simple that it even doesn't have an ON-OFF switch. But if I set the quality as the "best," I can print papers very clearly.

I'm boastfully saying this, but I actually haven't realized the difference between the "best" and the "normal" settings until very recently.

Friday, February 8, 2008

The Crucial Period

I feel that coming 30 years is the crucial period for my life.

Thursday, February 7, 2008

The Level

There is a time when I realize that "the mountain that I thought it has the same height as the others is actually much higher than the others. It just looked the same, because I was seeing it from a great distance away."

There might be a similar aspect in human's level too.

Today's feeling was completely up to "my nose."

Friday, February 1, 2008

More Treasures

I want to listen more carefully to other person's stories.

Without Any Trouble

I finished the grocery shopping without any trouble.
It means that I came back to my apartment with bags in both hands as I planned yesterday.

.....................

It was just another day.
I thank for not being snatched, and I hope that everywhere on earth to be like this.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Grocery Shopping

I'll do grocery shopping tomorrow!
I'll carry bags in both hands!

When I get tired, my mind becomes wicked.
......Tiredness is a big enemy.

Sunday, January 27, 2008

Two and a Half Minutes

Right now, the days are getting longer for every two and a half minutes.
It's really an amazing thing.

Everyday, the sun rises one minute earlier, and sets one and a half minutes later.

It's astonishing.

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Just

I want everyone on earth to be happy.
It doesn't matter whether the person is Christian, Muslim or Buddhist.

I just hope that everyone's life to be filled with big smiles, delight, and happiness that arise from the bottom of one's heart.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

No One

Each and every person on earth is given a complete free will.

That's why no one can completely control another person's mind.

Monday, January 21, 2008

A Happy Song

Today, I heard a little child's singing voice in a grocery store.
The child was singing a Christmas song, and it gave me a small smile and very warm feeling.

It was a happy song in shopping crowds.

The Strongest Words in the World

I'll tell you the strongest words in the world to fight against various worries.
It's this.

"So what."

If you use this phrase to other people, I'm sure that you'll be hated completely, so I recommend you to use this words only to destroy your worries.

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Have courage and destroy the false happiness.
Then, with strong determination, get the true one.

The Adnoun

I didn't know that there are so many ways of defying the types of part of speech (lexical category).
Just ten or so minutes ago, I learned a bit about the category, "adnoun," in both English and Japanese.

Monday, January 14, 2008

News

It's better to keep it in mind that not so many people will become happy after watching news.

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Quite

Everyone is quite strong.
Most of the feelings, "I can't live without him/her," are just delusions.

An Interim Report

Whatever the results, they are still an interim report.

Friday, January 11, 2008

To Kill Time

Uh...

I was full, yet I sucked candy.
Now, I'm so stuffed.

I went to here and ate a big scone.
(It was twice as big as normal, and the taste was very good.)

To The People Who Hasn't Yet Realized

Why are you so cynical?

......You are the one who wanted tenderness? .....

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Sandalwood

When I went to Vancouver about three weeks ago, I bought a bottle of sandalwood essential oil at a Japanese version of dollar shop called Daiso.

I was just interested in the word, "sandalwood," and bought it as a trial.
But, I found that I like the scent.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

Tiny Ripples

The words on the Web are like small stones that are thrown on the Web surface, but they will keep creating tiny ripples on that page as long as the page exists.

Monday, January 7, 2008

I'm Sure

If we deny defeat even though it's very clear, we'll eventually speeding up the time of our lose.

It's totally different from the case of admitting defeat, but still do our best.

Needed Words

The words that I wrote in this blog are the one I need at this moment, and perhaps, also for the person who is reading this blog.

I've been writing such phrases, and I hope I can keep doing this.

Happy New Year!

It's kinda late, but, "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!"

Welcome the New Year, welcome 2008!

It may be only me, but 2008 sounds nice. It makes me feel like a lot of good things may happen. But, even if bad things happen, we can consider them as the dust that become visible when we are cleaning.
So, let's have a dignified bearing and go through the year!
